Number One Reason Why You Can’t Overcome Social Anxiety
How many times have you tried to overcome your social anxiety but failed? How many different things did you try hoping that it will help you beat your social phobia?
I bet you tried at least one thing if not more.
Maybe you’ve tried positive affirmations or positive thinking, or maybe even both.
You might have even tried cognitive behavioral therapy or some other sort of therapy.
Maybe you even took medications.
But no matter what method you’ve used, you somehow failed to do it.
There is a very good reason why you were unable to defeat your social anxiety once and for all.
You see, in a way you could use almost any method and you could make it work, however there is one problem that stands in between you and your social freedom. And this one problem is responsible for you not being able to overcome social anxiety disorder. It’s just that one thing that prevents you from making any significant progress.
So what is this thing?
What is holding you back?
What is making you procrastinate?
What is the thing that makes you indecisive?
What is that thing that makes you fear overcoming social anxiety?
What is that thing that makes you afraid of being socially confident?
You see the problem is that right now you’re afraid of overcoming social anxiety.
Maybe on a conscious level you really want to do it but on subconscious level you’re afraid to do it because you don’t know who you would be without your social anxiety.
You don’t know how to act when you don’t have social anxiety disorder.
And you don’t know what socially confident people do.
And you’re afraid that once you’re socially confident, people will expect from you to always be socially confident. And you’re afraid that you wouldn’t be able to live up to these expectations.
And there are many other fears about social confidence that you might have.
You might even be afraid of losing your identity because who would you be without your anxiety?
And all these fears are the result of your subconscious resistance.
So what is subconscious resistance?
Well, it’s your subconscious mind resisting overcoming social anxiety.
No matter how you consciously want to live a normal life… life without fear, your subconscious is resisting it. Your subconscious wants to keep the current situation.
Well, your subconscious mind only has one major job to do. Its job is to protect you. Its job is to keep you safe and right now your subconscious mind thinks that being socially confident is not safe.
Your subconscious mind believes that if you were socially confident you would get disapproval and you would get rejected a lot. It also believes that you would make a fool of yourself. And you would embarrass yourself.
So your subconscious mind believes that being socially confident isn’t safe because you could get emotionally hurt.
So as long as your subconscious mind believes that being socially confident isn’t safe it will do everything it can to sabotage your efforts of overcoming social anxiety and becoming emotionally free.
So in order to overcome your social phobia you first need to make your subconscious mind agree that being socially confident is safe and desirable state to be in. Your need your subconscious mind to understand that being socially confident is safe and not dangerous.
But this is still not enough to get rid of your subconscious resistance.
Well, your subconscious mind also believes that there are downsides to not having your social anxiety anymore.
You see right now you have certain benefits that you might lose if you overcome your social anxiety.
I know that it sounds silly to be talking about benefits of social anxiety but the thing is that you do have benefits that it gives you.
It could be that it gives you an excuse to not perform at your best level.
It gives you an excuse for not living your life fully.
It gives you permission to fail.
You see, right now you believe that without social anxiety you would have to finish everything and you would have to accomplish every goal because there would be no excuse for not reaching your goals.
And if you failed anyway it would mean that you are a failure.
But social anxiety gives you an excuse for not even trying.
So if you don’t try, you can’t fail, so you’re not a failure.
So in a way social anxiety disorder gives you a benefit of feeling better about yourself.
It helps you stay away from failing.
Even though in reality failure is actually a good thing because in order to succeed you first need to fail.
Now there are many other benefits that you might have because of your social phobia and its up to you to find out what these benefits are because you need to show yourself that you can have the same benefits without having social anxiety. And you need to show yourself that there are other benefits that you will get once you no longer have this problem.
So once you convince your subconscious mind that being socially confident isn’t dangerous and that you can have the benefits you have right now even without social anxiety, your subconscious resistance will slowly start to lose its power.
However there is one more thing that you need to do before it completely loses its power over you.
So what is this thing?
What else do you need to do?
The last thing that you need to do is to get your subconscious mind to believe that change is not hard.
Because right now it believes that change will be hard for you.
You see over time you’ve probably gathered quite some evidence that proves that change is hard.
Everything that you’ve tried so far to help you overcome social anxiety and didn’t work gave you a confirmation that change is hard.
So you’ve gathered quite a lot of evidence that overcoming social anxiety is not easy. Your belief might even be that it’s close to impossible to ever get over social phobia.
But the reality is that it’s not really that hard.
The reality is that you just haven’t tried the right thing yet.
And even if you tried something that really works your subconscious resistance prevented it from working.
So once you get rid of your subconscious resistance change becomes easy.
You just need to follow the right process. Do the right things at the right time. Deal with certain limiting beliefs in a proper way in order to acquire new, empowering beliefs that allow you to feel socially confident.
And this doesn’t mean that being socially confident equals being arrogant or being in need to be the center of attention all the time.
Being socially confident means that you simply don’t feel anxiety in social situations anymore.
Being socially confident means that you’re able to function in all sorts of social situations without feeling intense fear of something bad happening to you.
So the number on reason for you not being able to overcome social anxiety disorder lies in your subconscious resistance.
So in order to overcome social anxiety you first need to get rid of your subconscious resistance.
